I’m Matthew Chan, an animator and digital effects artist currently pursuing an MA in Digital Effects at Bournemouth University. My journey into animation began at a young age, captivated by the world of Star Wars and the power of storytelling. From that moment, I’ve been driven to bring stories to life, using animation to convey emotions through movement and gesture.
I earned first-class honours in computer character animation from Teesside University and have worked on a variety of creative projects, including directing group efforts and exploring different animation techniques. My work has been recognized in several ways, including a role at Studio Tucan, winning best work at ExpoTalent, and exhibiting at ExpoTees in London.
Although my initial background was in mechanical engineering, my passion for creative expression led me to transition into art and design, and I’ve never looked back. I’m constantly learning, collaborating, and growing in the world of animation. For me, animation isn’t just about moving pixels; it’s about creating moments that resonate with people.
I’m always exploring new ways to tell stories, driven by my love for the craft and a desire to inspire others along the way.
